II.  "History Rewritten"

Supporting Hope for the Children of Africa: Jamaa Letu

Julia Adams (viola/violin) presents a concert of new compositions by two Seattle composers, Justin Henderlight and Steven Luksan.  Henderlight's music continues the traditions of the Baroque Era, while Luksan's music reimagines music of the Romantic Era.


III. "Songs of the North"

Supporting the Music Ministry at Des Moines United Methodist Church

Join us as we lead you on a harmonious tour of folk-inspired music, stretching from North America, to the British Isles, to Scandinavia.  Pianist and Composer Steven Luksan will be you guide as he performs music by Grieg, German, and Grainger.  Violist Kerry Bollinger Blanton will treat us to traditional Norwegian fiddle tunes and give the World Premiere of Luksan's Folk Dances for Solo Viola.  Justin Henderlight will return for the World Premiere of Luksan's Sonata for Oboe and Piano.



IV. "Musical Americana"

Supporting the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and Church World Service's Resettlement Program

Music composed in the USA takes center stage in the next Saltwater Music Series concert. Come Explore music created by a diverse group of American Composers: the Romantics (Amy Beach and Edward MacDowell), the Ragtime pianists (Scott Joplin and Imogene Giles), and a pioneering modernist (William Grant Still). Steven Luksan will also premiere a new piece (for piano and handbells) based on an American folk tune. This concert will feature Julia Adams (violin), Justin Henderlight (oboe), Steven Luksan (composer/piano) and members of the DMUMC Handbell choir. 


V. "Norwegian Night!"
